Welcome to the Rapides Ostomy Support Group's Home Page. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to the Mutual Aid and Moral Support of persons with Ostomies; Colostomy, Urostomy, Ileostomy or other urinary diversion, their families and friends.
Our aim is to promote a better understanding of ostomates and the programs of this ostomy group with both the public and the medical profession.
We are a local support group and chapter of the United Ostomy Association of America. The Phoenix magazine has replaced the Ostomy Quarterly. This is a great magazine devoted to those with ostomy's, with great hints, tips and uplifting articles. It is a 'must-have' for those with an ostomy and their families, friends and all health professionals. Click on the link below to sign up!
Want to 'get involved' the easy way? UOAA has developed an Advocacy Center to keep us abreast of Ostomy related legislation and a way to contact our congressional delegates on matters before them. I urge everyone to visit the website and see what is going on. Just click here!
Rapides Ostomy Support Group has teamed up with Friends of Ostomates Worldwide to collect and disseminate needed ostomy supplies. FOW has been doing this for many years and has the organizational capabilities to handle this situation in an efficient and orderly manner. We would hate to have you send supplies to an agency that had no idea what an ostomy was and would not recognize a box of wafers from a box of Cheerio's.
